Excellent pastrami sandwich and very friendly service
Hard to find due to construction but you'll see signs to show you location once you are near the restaurant. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with delicious pastries that will suck your soul away. Don't stay too long or you'll be tempted to buy some.We wisked through to the seating area and ordered the lunch special which includes a soup and a main. I choose the chicken matzo and pastrami sandwich. I've never had a matzo and don't know what it is, but it tasted like bread ish. The soup was pretty salty. Not my most favourite soup but others disagree with me based on the reviews below.Pastrami sandwich was jam packed with pastrami obviously. Fine taste of meat and bread. Simply delicious and hard to mess up. I skipped on the coleslaw that was included as I'm not a big fan of it.Overall, for $9.95, would come back to try other items on the menu.
Amazing deli. Ignore the construction make the effort to visit it for sure! The corned beef was delicious and the service was great.
Have recently been on a mission to try every Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich in the city. I must admit the one at Yitzs was the most inferior. I’ve been to about half a dozen of the best Jewish and Greek delis in Ontario and Montreal. Some have been outstanding and others just good. This place fell below that standard. The meat was was just off, too rubbery and greasy, it was difficult to bite and chew. The portion was small and corresponding prices high for what you get. Fries and pickles weren’t included and had to be ordered extras. The soup of the day and the motzo ball soup were also quite bland.Though the service was friendly and it seemed clean inside with the feel of an authentic old deli the food just didn’t make the cut. This place isn’t horrendous , but in the grand scheme of things compared to all the other great delis across the city I would consider it schmatta’and forgo going here.
Good atmosphere, service, and food.
Fantastic food! Currently a ton of construction in front of the building but they're still open and this place is a must try!
Delicious food and friendly people. We really hope their catering service continues after the store closes.
Super lunch deal with soup and sandwich. The chicken soup broth unfortunately tasted like bouillon. Very salty and processed tasting, which was surprising.
I love Yitz's Delicatessen in Toronto.
Amazing kosher sandwiches. Loved the pastrami and roast beef - quality and taste is equivalent to that of a New York sandwich shop! Can't wait to try the other cuts of meat.
Absolutely the best smoked meat deli sandwich in T. I ain't lying!!!!!
The best pastrami sandwich out there. Lovely service I'll miss you
Awesome pastrami on rye, chocolate chip cookies and brisket. Absolute shame that the construction has forced them to close. Sad.
It's been years since I've visited. Always loved it but for some reason stopped going. My business moved across the street and ive become a patron again. The quality is still amazing, soups, sandwiches and specials are still delicious. I'm happy to be back!!
Yitz' is an absolute deli staple in midtown. It's been there forever and I'm glad the LTR didn't get that part of the block torn down. Reasonable dine-in prices and tasty food. Great lunch spot!
It's a Classic. Sorry to see it go.
I was excited to try the restaurant after seeing high rating but the cost my smoked meat sandwich versus it's size and quality was not worth it
Yitz's is a local institution. Some of the best corned beef and pastrami sandwiches in Toronto. And their burgers are huge. Make sure you give them a try when your in the area. PS, they also sell Cuban and other high end cigars.
Their chicken soup will make you happy and cure almost anything
Great Smoked Meat & Pastrami 🤤😋
I've been to Swartz's in Montreal, I've been to Katz's in NYC. Sadly, I've been to caplansky's in Toronto. Yitz's might just have the best sandwich in the game. Best Cole slaw I've had to date.
Still a good pastrami sandwich. Montreal is still the place to go for old Jewish deli.
All the food here is so great. Was here yesterday
Nice deli. Good food especially the sandwiches. Convenient take out available. A bit of an institution as it has been around for a long time. That says something.
Incredibly great sandwiches, pickles, salads, and latkes. My favourite Jewish deli in the city. Big portions of comfort food. You'll love it here.
Great Smoked Meat sandwich. My server was great. Unfortunately the construction outside is making it difficult to find it but once inside is good. Beer and Wine available too.
Not bad but Caplansky was still a bit better!
Good food good price good service
Yummy food. Speedy, attentive and friendly service. Parking can be tricky around Eglinton/Avenue Road, but, that’s not their fault. Awful pies! Do not buy their “North American” styled (apple, strawberry/rhubarb etc.) pies - they’re pricy, not made in-house (you’d be happier getting a pie from Walmart). I highly recommend them for authentic NYC styled deli food.
I understand business is slow as a result of the LRT construction, but i have gonna there twice in the last month, to purchase knishes which have always been great, but the last two time they've been sour, meaning old, regardless of knish turnover and slowing business I don't expect sour knishes when I get home, if there not selling fast enough throw them out or make smaller batches and sell out, don't have two massive trays of sour ones for sale. Adapt, don't forgo quality. Disappointed. A true fan for over 42 years
Great smoked meat sandwich
The last of great baby beef sandwich places
Montreal smoke meat sandwiches are good. Pies are ehhh, grocery stores pie are better than this one. Not crispy, its so lumpy.. the lady serve as cashier needs to smile.. not friendly at all.
The motza soup is so good! I have yet to have anything that I didn't like. Throw them some love during this construction frenzy on Eglinton!
This place has it all! Definitely some of the tastiest soup and sandwiches I've had at a restaurant. I cannot emphasize how good the chicken matzo ball soup was. Reasonable prices and friendly service!
they have the best pastry in town!
After not having been here for years, I was craving a good smoked meat sandwich. It was definitely a lot better from what I remember. Yitz’s is back on my roster!
Great soups and meats Server was sweet and attentive.
Can't go wrong... Don't be put off that it's not busy... The construction is such a disservice to this amazing deli....a Toronto icon
I write this still clutching my stomach - I've bought beef knish's here before and I know the servers usually leave the knishes by cash, however I bought some last night as a quick pre-dinner snack. Came home and wasn't feeling very hungry for any more food and ended up having an awful case of food poisoning. Had to throw out the rest I bought, I'm extremely disappointed as I used to like this place but this experience has truly tarnished my view and I will not be shopping here again.
Best smoke meat in the city
Very busy place, people love it for good food and catering.
I come here every week. Best pastrami on rye in Toronto, hands down. I love this place and hope they stick around for years to come!
You better go there soon because it closes on December 1, 2019!
Fantastic food and service! My husband and I ordered omelettes from the weekend menu. The dishes came with fries and choice of bread on the side. We chose sesame bagels and ordered cream cheese separately. The fries were crisp and delicious. The omelettes were hearty and fluffy. They also have a great selection of bakery stuff. We couldn't resist the sight and ended up taking away butter raisin tarts and lemon danish pastry. Overall, it was a satisfying meal at a decent price.
Good selection of products, sweet & savory. Excellent choice of Jewish cuisine, however out of respect from my Jewish friends out there I could not verify this establishment as being genuinely Kosher. This was my first visit and I got a battered sausage (basically a corn dog) which was pretty good. I also got a corn beef sandwich, which unfortunately was lack lustre, although admittedly the meat portion was generous, but it had better be for $10. Much to my disappointment there was no gherkin/pickle, and what little mustard was spread onto the rye wasn't spicy enough to balance out the greasy meatyness of the stacked corn beef, so it became a bit much to finish the last bites. No pickle is a deal breaker for me. The last item I got was a giant pepperette - this was a little dry and not as spicy as I'd hoped either, a little bit pricey too for $4.50I understand they must be struggling with construction, and I'll probably be back because the sweet baked goods looked great.
Old fashion food, service and decor. So friendly. Amazing tuna salad, cole slaw, soups and French fries.
Friendly staff with great deli food!
One of the best restaurants\bakies in the neighborhood. Amazing staff with great tasting food. I definitely recommend picking up some fries and some melt aways!
Absolutely delicious corned beef sandwiches and matzo ball soup
